Christy Slanaker ("Christy," "I," "me," or "we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. This site is operated by The Dark Horse Advisory, LLC, doing business as Christy Slanaker, based in Middleton, Idaho.
What this site collects
Information you give me directly. When you sign up for the Steady Ground Starter email course, contact me through a speaker inquiry, or email me directly, you provide information such as your name, email address, and the content of your message. I collect only what you choose to share.
Information collected automatically. This site is hosted on Wix. Wix may collect limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, and referring URL for security, fraud prevention, and site performance. This happens at the hosting platform level. Wix's privacy practices are described in the Wix Privacy Policy.
This site does not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other third-party behavioral tracking tools. If that changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised.
Cookies. This site uses essential cookies set by Wix to keep the site running. It does not use marketing or advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect how the site functions.
Third-party services this site uses
Google Fonts. This site loads typography from Google Fonts. When fonts are loaded, Google may receive limited technical data such as your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
Google. When you sign up for the Steady Ground Starter, your name and email address are stored with Google for the purpose of delivering the course and any future content you opt in to. Their privacy practices apply to that data while it is in their system.
External links. This site links to LinkedIn, Instagram, thedarkhorseadvisory.com, and steadyheartstories.com. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
How your information is used
Your information is used to:

Your information is not sold, rented, traded, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. It is shared only with service providers (email service, hosting) who need it to perform their function, and only as described in this policy.
Email Marketing and your right to opt out
If you sign up for the Steady Ground Starter or any other list, you can unsubscribe at any time through the link in every email. Unsubscribing removes you from marketing emails. It does not delete your prior correspondence; if you want that deleted as well, email me directly.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact me and I will delete it.

If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have similar rights under your state's law. The same email address above is the way to exercise them.

Data Retention
Email correspondence is retained for as long as it is relevant to an active or potential working relationship, typically up to three years from last contact, unless you request earlier deletion. Email subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Security
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are in place to protect your information. No method of internet transmission is 100 percent secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be noted clearly. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
